Woody and I headed out for an afternoon on the water to photograph whales, eat cheese and biscuits.

This was the second time I had used the Sigma C 150-600mm p1:5-6.3 out on the boat. I changed the setting to Manual - F8, 1/1250 sec, ISO 250 (looking a.way from the sun, 100 into the sun) and hand held. All on the Canon 5d Mark iv.

The seas where so flat and calm, no wind, and you could see forever. The water clarity was unbelievable blue and clear.

Cruising along in the sun

We came across a pod of four Humpback Whales. Couple of adults, juvenile and a calf.

The sun came and went through out the afternoon while we cruised with the pod waiting for them to play.

I'm always interested in how far we are out off shore. I could see North Reef buoy off in the distance. It looked very lonely out there. I thought they may have been some fisher people out there. Such a lovely afternoon still no wind and very calm seas.

Still cruising with the pod and they were quite we broke out the cheese and biscuits. As we get settled we herd a splash and looked up. Yeap missed that one. Grab the camera point it in the direction and here it comes again, and again and again. It was breaching like it was bunny hoping or porpoising. Huge porpoise!

Second breach.

Third breach!

Fourth Breach!

Fifth Breach!

Sixth Breach!

Missed number Seven.

Fin slapping and cruising as they moved in and out of Stockton Bight.

I'm amazed how the water bends when they come up to breath. On days like this you notice it more.

Time for our last shots as the light faded.

Till we meet again safe travels.
